This document is required by Canadian labor law to enable employees to justify their work history to future employers.<\/p>\n<h2><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Definitions\"><\/span>Definitions<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>EMPLOYER<\/strong>: Natural or legal person who employs the EMPLOYEE.<\/li>\n<li><strong>EMPLOYEE<\/strong>: A natural person who has been employed by the EMPLOYER.<\/li>\n<li><strong>DATE OF EMPLOYMENT<\/strong>: The date on which the EMPLOYEE began working for the EMPLOYER.<\/li>\n<li><strong>END DATE<\/strong>: The date on which the EMPLOYEE stopped working for the EMPLOYER.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Main_clauses\"><\/span>Main clauses<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<h3><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Clause_Obligation_of_the_Parties\"><\/span>Clause: Obligation of the Parties<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h3>\n<p>The EMPLOYER undertakes to issue a certificate of employment to the EMPLOYEE at the end of the employment relationship. The EMPLOYEE shall provide the information required to draw up the certificate correctly.<\/p>\n<h3><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Clause_Financial_conditions_consideration\"><\/span>Clause: Financial conditions \/ consideration<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h3>\n<p>No financial consideration is required for the issuance of the work certificate, unless otherwise stipulated in an applicable collective bargaining agreement.<\/p>\n<h3><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Clause_Duration_and_termination\"><\/span>Clause: Duration and termination<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h3>\n<p>The work certificate must be delivered to the EMPLOYEE within a reasonable time after the END DATE.
