Legal services

Avocat-montreal.ca is an online platform that connects individuals seeking legal services (“Clients”) with lawyers (“Lawyers”). Our goal is to make communication and collaboration between Clients and Lawyers easier.

Registration and user account

To use our Site, Lawyers must create a user account. By creating an account, you represent and warrant that:

  • you are a lawyer qualified and authorized to practise in your jurisdiction in Canada (French-speaking or English-speaking);
  • the information you provide at registration is accurate and up to date;
  • you will maintain and update your account information so that it remains accurate and up to date.

Credit system

The Site operates on a credit system. Lawyers pay credits to contact Clients whose requests match their areas of practice and interest them. Credits are valid for 2 years from the date of purchase.

Clients may use the Site free of charge and are not required to buy credits.

Payment

Lawyers buy credits through the Site dashboard. Payments are made by credit card or any other payment method accepted by the Site. Rates and payment terms are clearly displayed on the Site and may be changed at any time at our discretion.

The preferred payment method is Stripe. Payments on our Site are processed by Stripe, a third-party payment service provider. In the event of a problem with a payment made through Stripe, the Lawyer concerned must contact Stripe directly to resolve it. Avocat-montreal.ca is not responsible for problems related to payments made through Stripe.

Liability

Avocat Montréal is a platform that connects users and is not responsible for the actions, content, information or data of Clients or Lawyers.

  • As a Lawyer, you are responsible for the quality and performance of the legal services you provide to Clients.
  • As a Client, you are responsible for selecting the Lawyer who best meets your needs and for providing accurate and up-to-date information.

Privacy

Your personal information will be handled in accordance with our privacy policy, which you can consult separately on our Site.

We reserve the right, at our sole discretion, to modify or replace these Terms at any time. If a revision is material, we will make reasonable efforts to provide at least 30 days’ notice before the new terms take effect. What constitutes a material change will be determined at our sole discretion.
